FROM ETERNITY. The Logos, the eternal ever living Word. That Word that became flesh, born in a human body, nevertheless, preexistent and eternal. John 1:14 Jesus became that Word made flesh, born of a woman. That which had existed in eternal and was eternal now became one with man that He might save and redeem all of mankind. The greatness of this act of God staggers the imagination. To think that one of whom it was said, The Word was God. John 1:1 The greatness of His love is evident in the fact that He would leave all the worship and praise of the inhabitants of heaven. The high and holy position which was His, to become a sacrifice, to die the worst of deaths, all to redeem man. In this manner He demonstrated the magnitude of His exceeding great and magnanimous love.
PROCLAIMED TO BE THE COMING MESSIAH. His future as the Ruler of Israel was certified by the words of Micah, in his prophecy. Mic. 5:2 At the same time he announced the city of the birth of the Messiah. Considering all the prophecies of the coming of the Son of God into this world and the precious manner in which they were accomplished, plus all the signs and proclamations that were made concerning Him. It is amazing that the whole of Israel did not flock to Him. His activities, His works were from ancient times, or eternity, everlasting. He was not an afterthought of His Father but had been with the Father from time immemorial. The Father had loved the Son prior to the creation of the universe and before the foundation of the world. John 17:24 Only of the Lord Jesus may it be said that He was formed. Like all babies born into this world He was formed in the womb of His Mother. He is unique, for He and He alone is both formed as a man and at the same time recognized as being Deity. Isa. 43:10
FROM ETERNITY HE WAS APPOINTED TO BE THE LAMB OF GOD. The work of redemption was not an after thought with the Lord. In the eternity’s past the perfect plan of salvation was determined in the annals and consultations of the Lord. Jesus was chosen to be that redeeming Lamb. Before the world and its contents were created He had committed Himself to life, on this earth, as a man, and to a hideous death of crucifixion. 1 Pet. 1:20 This He willingly did, while beholding the ultimate joy of having a people with Him, whom He had purchased with His own blood. Heb. 12:2 Those who accept Him become the chosen of the Lord. In the eternal wisdom and knowledge of the Lord we were chosen, in Him from before the foundation of the World. Chosen, not to the exclusion of any others, but because He foreknew those who would love Him and follow Him, He proclaimed it to be so. Please take special note of the result of that calling. We are to be holy and without blame before Him in life. Eph. 1:4 There is a standard which the Lord has established for His very own and it is our responsibility to measure up to that high and lofty example which He has established.
