BABYLON, THE GREAT CITY. Destined to fall, to be destroyed. Every false and imitation of things spiritual will be found in her. False Christ’s, false prophets, fake ministries, erroneous teachers will abound in her. The frightening thing is that these spurious individuals are already practicing in the religious world and are so readily accepted. Rather than placing their trust in the Word of the Lord many seek signs and wonders. An extremely dangerous practice. With these wonders happening some place other than our church we run to see them and are trapped. Heed the warnings of Jesus concerning seduction which is the spirit and the practice of the harlot. Even the very elect, the Bride of Christ, will be tempted in this manner. None will escape the manipulations of the great whore. Mark. 13:22
MANY VIEW THIS WOMAN AS THE CITY OF ROME. There is no doubt that Rome is a type of the great harlot city. However, Rome is the seat and heart of only one religious body in the earth today. It always has been and always will be. The great harlot is the very heart and core of all religious activity. Often overlooked is what the scriptures have to say about the city that is honored by the Israelis, Moslems and Christians. It is already a so called, holy city to these three predominant religions of the world. Give heed to the words of the Lord Jesus. First, He rebuked the city for its treatment of the prophets that came to her. Then He spoke of His attempt to reconcile them to the Lord, but, ye would not. Therefore, their house was to be left desolate. Empty and void of the presence of the Lord. Mt. 23:38 Jesus prophesied the complete physical destruction of the city, with dire results. This is now but a matter of history. Luke 19:43-44
THE HARLOT CITY IS AKIN TO SODOM AND GOMORRA. These ancient cities had the same spirit and attitude as the harlot church. They surrendered themselves to fornication and all manner of sexual immorality and perversion. Their attitude is one of self pollution, the rejection of authority and slander spiritual beings. Now isn’t that a word picture of our world? Jude 7-8 The harlot city is the city where Jesus was crucified. It is the city that in the eyes of the Lord is comparable to Sodom and Egypt. This is not the saying of a religious individual or doctrine but it is a true, thus saith the Lord. Rev. 11:8 When the choice was made to release Jesus or Barabbas Those present cried out that the blood of the innocent lamb, the Lord Jesus be their responsibility. Mt. 27:25 While martyrs have been slain everywhere. There is only one city which can meet the requirements recorded in the Word. A city guilty of the deaths of prophets as well as saints. That covers both those slain in the time of the Old Testament and the New. She will be held responsible as will the whole unrepentant world for the shedding of the blood of those sent by the Lord. Rev. 18:24 The last two to die in the city are the two witnesses who have plagued the world for the entire length of the tribulation. Rev. 11:8
