THE DEITY OF CHRIST

THE SON OF MAN. The title given Jesus and that which He used in referring to Himself shows how completely He became a man. Identifying with us from the cradle to the grave. Deity, becoming flesh and blood, submitting Himself even to the ignominious death of crucifixion, with all of its reproach and humiliation. Heb. 2:14 He was subjected to the temptations of sin, just as we are. There was not a sin or iniquity known among men but what He faced it and triumphed over it. Were it not possible for Him to sin, there would have been no need to tempt Him. The Word makes it plain that He was tempted in ALL POINTS, just as we are. Heb. 4:15 We may be well assured that the full power of wickedness and evil was loosed against Him at that time. If ever there was a person whom satan desired to defeat, it was Jesus. In being victorious over sin and satan, Jesus declared His Deity by quoting the scripture. It is written, thou shalt not tempt the LORD you God. Mat. 4:7 Deut. 6:16 His usage of the Word shows to us the method that is most effective in overcoming temptation. Use the Word. The Word hidden in our hearts will enable us to be victorious.

PROPHETICALLY PROCLAIMED TO BE THE SON OF MAN. Jesus came to the world, as a sign of the Lord, of His great love and desire for them to know Him. The prophetic utterance of the Spirit of the Lord declared that the Son, born of a virgin, would be Immanuel, or God with us. Precious promise of the concern of the Lord for humanity. Isa. 7:14 The Lord is to become like us and one with us. From eternity, it had been resolved that the shepherd whom the Lord Himself had appointed should feel the brunt of the sword. The very Man who had been the constant companion of the Father would experience the wrath of God against sin. Making it possible for sinners to be purged from sin and come into fellowship with the Lord. Zech. 13:7 After the baptism of Jesus, in water and in Spirit, there was absolute and full companionship with His Father. Ps. 8:4

WHO WAS LOST? JESUS, OR MARY AND JOSEPH? Jesus was twelve years of age when His deeply religious parents took Him to Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Passover. What an interesting point of time for this to have taken place. Jesus was to be the Passover lamb. After a days journey, Jesus was found to be missing. When they returned to Jerusalem, after three days, they found Him in the Temple where, He was listening to the Doctors of the Law and asking them questions. Luke 2:41-46 Here is evidence of Deity, they were astonished at His understanding and answers. Luke 2:47 Sometime in those three days the one asking questions was in turn questioned. It is very evident that Spiritual knowledge and understanding were greatly witnessed in Him, even at such a young age. He knew and grasped the high calling of His Father. His response to His parents show a need of urgency to fulfill the will of His Father. He was desirous to be about His Fathers business. Luke 2:49.
