THE DEITY OF CHRIST

REASONS WHY MElCHISEDEC IS CHRIST. The priesthood of Aaron was not intended to be eternal. All of its ceremony and ritual was conducted by men who as men would die. The weakness of the Law was in the very ones who declared it and performed its duties and regulations. Contrasting that, we see the redemptive powers of that of Melchisedec. An eternal priesthood which is based on the fact that it is that which administers indestructible LIFE. Heb. 7:16 The power of an endless life, is the distinguishing feature of the identity of Melchisedec. The Father, who is life, living and eternal has given to His Son the same capacity to be life. John 5:26 It is not just a situation where the Father and the Son possess life but it reveals the source of life. So, the ministry of Melchisedec/Christ is that which administers life, everlasting and eternal to all who come to Christ. The law of the Spirit, the Spirit of life is that which is found in Christ Jesus. It brings liberty and freedom from the condemnation of sin. Rom. 8:2 So effective is that life which is found in the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that the physical man is renewed and revived, quickened, and brought to life. Rom. 8:11 Christ Jesus is the priest eternal, forever and ever after the order of Melchisedec. There is only one who can fit the established and divine requisite established for this high and holy priesthood. Heb. 7:17

The eternal oath proclaiming Jesus to be the perpetual priest after the pattern of Melchisedec was spoken by His Father, therefore is unchangeable and cannot be revoked. Heb. 7:21 Jesus is the surety, both the bond and the bondsman, the one assuring that the promises of the Lord will be fulfilled in the believer. In fulfilling the demands of a holy and just Lord, He accomplished what the Law could not do. Therefore He established a better testament, one that is vastly superior to the old. It is declared to be a more excellent ministry, far superior to that which had been. It is also stated that it is a better covenant than that of the old. Also it is a covenant that has been founded on promises which are better than those which had been in effect. Heb. 8:6 The achievements of the old covenant could only be completed by the new. Without the new all those who trusted in the old would be lost. Only through the new can the transgressors under the old find forgiveness. For all its pomp and circumstances, its multitude of sacrifices, it places of worship and their beauty, it would have all been in vain, had there not come the high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Heb. 9:15 Only the blood of Christ is efficacious for the forgiveness of sin. There is none other which may be acceptable to the Lord. His blood is the blood of the New Covenant, the Everlasting Covenant. Heb. 13:20 The blood of Christ was shed as an atonement for sin. Rom. 5:11 The blood of Christ was shed for our healing. 1 Peter 2:24 Jesus, our high priest, in order to pay the full price would of necessity have received the full forty stripes. Once a man had been beaten with forty stripes he could never be beaten again. Christ suffered once and for all. Deut. 25:3
