REASONS WHY MELCHISEDEC IS CHRIST. Without descent or genealogy. It would stand to reason that as He had no father or mother there would be no lineage which could be attributed to Him. How wonderful it is when we take the Word at face value, in all of its simplicity and just believe what it says. This is just another indication that prior to His appearance to Abram, Melchisedec was not occupied by the service of a high priest. His very first ministry as Melchisedec was to Abram. The office of His ministry was established at that time. Heb. 7:3
Without beginning of days. Any being who exists but has no beginning of days, is eternal. This is a statement that can only be properly made in relationship to Deity, the true and living Jehovah. His very name is a perfect expression of His nature and being. HE IS, He ever lives. He is entirely self existent. Needing nothing nor any other person to enable Him to exist. He does not need us as a source of life for Him to live. We desperately need Him in order to live, naturally or spiritually. True life is to be found in Him. John 1:4 Heb. 7:3
He is without an end or a conclusion to His life. Once again this is proof of His eternal being. Because God is life, He cannot die. Melchisedec has never died, His ministry continues, even today. He abideth a priest continually. Heb. 7:3 As the Son of Man He gave Himself as a sacrifice on Calvary. Paul spoke of Jesus as having immortality. That is deathlessness, ever living, the Logos cannot die. The eternal God is very life itself. That life is eternal and will not ever cease. Jesus the Christ is the same, unchangeable, immortal source of life. He is today what He was in every yesterday and what He will be for all of the tomorrow of eternity. Heb. 13:8
Made like unto the Son of God. Jesus is uniquely, The Son of God. Heb. 7:3 The Father God has no other Sons born in the same manner as the Lord Jesus. The seed was, that eternal Logos, the living Word, eternal and abiding forever. The Holy Spirit created the conditions under which the Word became flesh. Jesus, in the strictest sense, is the only begotten of the Father and so He will ever be. Our new birth is Spiritual and takes place within the Spiritual nature of man. His spirit is brought to life and man is born again. He is made to be a Son of God but not in the same manner as the Lord Jesus. As the Son of God He has a continuos heavenly priesthood which He is performing. Heb. 4:14 The individual recognizing and confessing Jesus as the Son of God is assured of the ever abiding presence of the Lord. A beautiful relationship is formed where the believer is in the Lord and the Lord is in Him. That is the very apex of Godly fellowship. It is the spiritual alliance that must be in existence, the more so as we approach the end of the age. 1 John 4:15 It is the goal of the Lord that the same deep association that exists between the Father and the Son, exist between Himself and His church.
