JESUS, THE SON OF GOD. Jesus, not an uncommon name. Not unique or one that would set Him apart from others. It is Greek for the name Joshua [Jehovah is salvation] in Hebrew. It is the name bestowed upon Him at the time of the annunciation of His coming birth, by the archangel Gabriel. It was given prophetically that all might know it to be the name of salvation. Mt. 1:21 While there were others with whom He shared that name, only He has the power of salvation invested in His name. There is not any other name which has the ability to save and redeem but the name of Jesus. Acts 4:12 The witness and testimony of the prophets was that those who would express faith in Him would receive forgiveness of their sins, through His name. Acts 10:43 There is a future moment of time when every knee, from Adam to the last person born, will bend before Him. All three areas of the eternal abode of man are involved, heaven, earth and the grave. This moment is the greatest confession meeting which will include the entire population of mankind, from the first man to the last. Note, they will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, Deity, Divine, the eternal Son of God all to the glory of His Father. Phil. 2:10-11 The Father takes great pride in His Son and is glorified and exalted when Jesus is worshipped and lifted up.
THE NAME WHICH SETS HIM APART FROM ALL OTHERS. Jesus, sweet simple, precious name. A name which is on the lips and in the heart of every child of God. We sing in that name, we pray in that name, we worship He who bears that name. It is such a gentle yet powerful name. A name that we shout out loud, a name that we whisper, in love and appreciation. It is indeed a glorious name. But, the Lord has added to His name. Which makes His name to be distinctive from all other names. It was a deliberate act of God In making this same Jesus, both Lord and Christ. That completes His name and through the fullness of that name now bestowed upon Him by His Father, we see His Deity displayed in a majestic manner. Acts 2:36 The message of the Gospel is yet the same as in that day. Repentance and the remission of sins are to be preached in His name to all nations. Luke 24:47 His name is the name of healing and deliverance from every manner of affliction and demonic oppression. Acts 3:16 All power, all authority, on earth and heaven was committed to Him of His Father. Mt. 28:18 In turn He has commissioned the church to fulfill and complete His mission to this earth. Mt. 28:19 To the measure which we have received to that same measure we may give. If we have received nothing, then there is nothing to give. If we have received much, then we have plenty to give. Mt. 10:8 He has given full and absolute power of attorney, without restrictions to those who ask ANYTHING in His name. John 14:13-14 The possibilities of response to prayer are limitless, providing they are prayed according to His will. All things are possible to them that believe. Surely it is time for us to lay hold of the promises of the Lord and realize that He has given us His name to use in prayer, and that it works.
