A TRIUNE NAME BESTOWED UPON JESUS. This is a true act of God. The fullness of the Godhead gave the fullness of the name of God to the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 2:36 With the granting of that name came also the fullness of authority and power in heaven and earth. That would involve total, complete, and absolute power. In the granting of that power, all judgment is committed into the hands of the Lord Jesus. John 5:22 We are well aware that His name Jesus was given to Him of His Father, by the angel of the Lord. Luke 1:30-31 In the act of God in bestowing this great responsibility on the Lord Jesus, God likewise conferred The completeness of the name of God upon Him, when God made this same Jesus, both Lord and Christ. A name gives identity and complete control. Deeds wrought in ones name make that named person responsible for those deeds. Jesus did not take the place of His Father nor of the Holy Spirit but all of His acts and deeds were done in that glorious name. We could well achieve greater success in prayer by following the exhortation of the scripture to do all things in His name. Col. 3:17 The name of the Father is Lord, He gave His name. Isa. 42:8 The name of the Holy Spirit is Christ, the anointing, He gave His name. Jesus received the Spirit without measure, or in His fullness. John 3:34 The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Christ or the anointed one. Rom. 8:9
HE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE CALLED LORD, AND HE WAS. The Jehovah of the Old Testament is the Lord [Greek, Kurios] of the New. The Old Testament, when compared with the New confirms the fact that He is Lord. DAVID proclaimed the name of the LORD, or Jehovah, with an invite to participate in His goodness. Ps. 34:8 This scriptures counterpart is and accomplished fact of having tasted that the Lord is gracious.1 Pet. 2:3 Sanctify the LORD of hosts. Approach unto the Holiness of the LORD with the proper attitude and the spirit of holiness. Isa. 8:13 “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. [NIV.] While Kurios is not as strong a word as LORD or Jehovah we may see that the same strong meaning has been carried over into the New Testament. Jesus, is LORD. It is well that we consider the words of Jude in relationship to our subject. The only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 4 Once again, the position granted Him of His Father is revealed through the scriptures. When the Lord Jesus returns to earth at the time of His second coming He will come as Lord. Jude 14 He is Lord of the dead and the living. what a great display of His Lordship when the dead in Christ are raised and we which are alive will be caught up unto Him. Rom. 14:9 Only the Lord Jesus is the resurrection and the life. All men, speaking by the power of the Spirit will call Him Lord and only by the Spirit is that acknowledgment effective. Anyone may repeat the words, Jesus is Lord, but they have no meaning, power or authority except they be uttered by the precious anointing of the Holy Spirit. When spoken by the Spirit there is full authority displayed. Jesus is Lord.
