THE THRONE OF FIRE. This is the revelation of the Almighty. A manifestation of a burning, flaming fire is fitting for the God who is a flaming fire. What else would we expect. Dan. 7:9 What a lustrous display of the glory of the Lord. Fire is not God but our God is a flaming fire. The dwelling place of the Lord is in fire and everlasting burning and who will dwell in such circumstances? Isa. 33:14 The answer is, the righteous, the pure in heart, those who perform the will of the Lord. Fire sanctifies, it purifies, it burns up the dross, it consumes the superfluous. Isa.33:15
THE VISION AND EXPERIENCE OF EZEKIEL. The word of the Lord came to him and the hand of the Lord was upon him. A good situation for a magnificent revelation. A whirlwind {ruach, spirit} , like a tornado or a hurricane. It would be expected that the strongest and the most powerful would be manifest. It was accompanied by an immense cloud. Eze. 1:4 His way, or mode of life is in the whirlwind {Strongs. Cuwphah, hurricane} or storm {Strongs, searah, a hurricane}, the clouds, nimbus or thundercloud. The Lord uses the most mighty and forceful as symbol of His Majesty. Nahum 1:3 The fire enfolding or whirling and twisting as is common to flames. It is an active, glowing display of fire. The whole was surrounded by a brilliant light, the nature and character of the Lord. The NIV adds < flashing lightning > to the cloud. What an awesome sight. In the midst or center of all this terrific activity there appeared the color of amber or glowing metal.
THE MAN ON THE THRONE OF GLORY AND MIGHT. Over and above the heads of the four living creatures was seen the throne. This throne is as none others. Its beauty, its architecture, its resplendence surpasses any thing that man could conceive, much less create. This is a living, vital throne, filled and surrounded with activity. A source of great display of light and glory. Eze. 1:26 Isaiah, too, saw the Lord sitting on His throne. It was an exalted throne that was lifted up on high, loftily reaching into the space above it. Exhalted above any existing authority or that ever could be. This throne is the ultimate of command for time and eternity. The train or hem of His robe filled the temple. Reminiscent of the robes worn by the High Priests where the bells and the pomegranates represent the Holy Spirit. The house of the Lord will be completely and thoroughly filled with the glory and might of the Spirit. The golden bells with their accompanying sound portray the evidence of the infilling of the Spirit, that is , tongues as on the day of Pentecost. The pomegranates, because of their multiplicity of seeds, represent the fruitfulness of the Spirit. Blue is the color of the Spirit. Purple speaks of royalty. Scarlet characterize the blood of atonement spilt for mankind on the cross. Ex. 28:33 Heaven will always display the work of redemption wrought by the Lord Jesus. The blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God will be on prominent display in the throne of the living God. The cost was too great to ever be forgotten. Rev. 5:6
