WHY THE MOON? Along with the sun, the moon was given for signs. {owth; a signal, a flag, a beacon, a mark or a miracle. From a root word, to come}. For seasons, the moon was used to determine the feasts of Israel. The moon is a type of Jesus. Every month it gives witness and testimony to the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. It waxes full and dominates the night sky. Then it wanes into darkness only to come forth again. It is a dead body. Christ died for us. It does not have light in itself but reflects the light of the sun. Christ came in the light and glory of the Father, reflecting the glory of God. The moon is pock marked. The visage of Christ was marred more than that of any man. The moon controls the tides of the seas and of the earth (a type of the masses of humanity). Christ is over all. The ultimate witness and testimony of the moon will be that of the innocent blood that was shed on this earth. It shines in the darkness of night. Jesus is the light that lightens the darkness of our lives. A moon covered with blood must take place BEFORE the Second Coming of Christ. Acts 2:20 ,Joel 2:31 Jesus placed these events to be IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TRIBULATION. The sun will be darkened, the moon will not give light. Mt. 24:29 , Mark 13:24 Isaiah made it very plain that the day of the Lord would be one day of massive judgment on this earth. He proclaimed it to be a cruel, a terrible day of the manifestation of wrath and the righteous burning anger of a just and merciful God. The Lord is always just and visits in mercy before judgment. He will not tolerate the rejection of His Son. Those who are sinners and living at this time will be absolute reprobate. They will have lived under the influence of the antichrist and will have completely given themselves to him. The earth will be emptied and made desolate by the Coming of Christ. All and every sinner will be decimated from off the earth. There is no possibility of any sinner living through the catastrophe that will take place at that period of time. Isa. 13:9
THE STARS OF HEAVEN. In the scenario which we are considering the stars are destined to fall from heaven to the earth. Rev. 6:13 To begin with, every star is a sun. In comparison to multitudes of the stars our sun is a dwarf, there many which are multiplied times larger. If our sun were to fall from the sky it would overwhelm the earth, we are in comparison to its size but a speck. So obviously, most any star falling to the earth would completely annihilate it. Scientists, tell us of exploded and exploding stars. These create particles, large and small which are found throughout space. In our galaxy we have much of this kind of space debris. Periodically we are able to visibly view meteors that move through space. Recently one surprised us, they called it a near miss, even though it was multiplied thousands of miles from earth. These we are told, are the remnants of exploded stars. Unquestionably this is what is referred to. We call them falling stars, do we not. Even small pieces of this space rubble would create havoc on earth. There can be no question but what this portion of prophecy will be fulfilled just as is declared.
