SIGNS THAT ARE TO BE FULFILLED. These things shall take place <<BEFORE>> the great and notable day of the Lord. When we place first things first the order of events will then fall into their rightful place. Acts 2:20 Strange and unusual symbols to be manifest in the heavens associated with unusual signs in the earth, such as blood, fire and billows of smoke. These are not natural occurrences but supernatural warnings of the impending judgments to come. Acts 2:19 Of greater impact will be the moment that the Lord will chose to cause the sun to become darkened and the moon turned into blood. There is no way that we can even begin to imagine the depths of fear and consternation in the hearts of men by such consequences.
THE GREAT DAY OF HIS WRATH. The climax of the sixth seal will immediately precede the moment of the return of the Lord Jesus. All men will recognize the fact of the arrival of that day. Every effort of men in human society is listed as having one purpose and that is to hide from the wrath of the Lamb. Their fear will supersede any fear that has ever been felt by men on earth. It will be one horrendous moment. Rev. 6:17 At the end of the measure of time allotted to the fulfillment of the sixth seal are these cataclysmic signs that are to be evidenced along with the great earthquake. THE SUN to become as black as sackcloth or mohair. This will be true darkness. The color black is worn as a sign of mourning. In a prophecy given to Jeremiah the Lord said that He would not repent nor turn back from accomplishing this time of darkness. Jer. 4:28 There are many statements in this Fourth chapter of Jeremiah that are comparable to this event, such as the earth emptied, mountains moved and cities destroyed. Jesus gave the time of the fulfillment of this awesome sight as being <<IMMEDIATELY>> after the tribulation. Mt. 24:29 It is stated in Mark to be AFTER that tribulation. Mark 13:24 This is but one of a number of powerful indications that the Second Coming of Christ is at the close of the great tribulation period. We are exhorted to study to be approved of the Lord into rightly dividing the Word of God. Laying aside the traditions of men and earnestly pursuing the truth of this matter will reap great benefits.
THE MOON BECAME AS BLOOD. A positive and definite sign of the coming of the Lord Jesus. What an awesome sight to look up into the heavens and to behold an orb of blood, called the moon. Rev. 6:12 Why blood? Natural life, the life of the flesh is in the blood. Our blood stream flowing through us maintains natural health and life. Lev. 17:11 Inherent within blood is a cry for vengeance when it is shed in murder or manslaughter. Note the blood of righteous Able crying for retaliation. Gen. 4:10 Under the opening of the Fifth seal we noted a number of people who were seeking revenge against those who had killed them. Rev. 6:10 The great city Babylon is destroyed because in her was to be found the blood of prophets and saints and the blood of ALL who were slain on the earth. That would certain include the blood of the Lord Jesus. Rev. 18:24 They have shed blood, the Lord will give them a frightening sign of the consummation of the age.
