WHAT IT IS! It is the revelation of Jesus Christ, given to Him by the deliberation and mercies of the Godhead. Rev.1:1 The purpose was that the servants of the Lord might know and understand those things that must shortly come to pass. We shall see that the enactment of the prophecies of this book are all in the future from the moment of their giving. This is a book of prophecy and not a book of history. Much of the message of this book has not yet been fulfilled. It is the policy of the Lord to show unto His people his plans and purposes. Note Amos 3:7 Surely the sovereign LORD does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets. NIV. Now, that is very positive and easy to understand. Thus, we have the book of revelation to show us the plan of the Lord for the consummation of the age. How can we understand a mystery but by revelation? That disclosure will be made by the Spirit of the Lord. It is time for the book to no longer be a mystery but to be a divine manifestation to the church of the Lord Jesus.
WHEN? The element of time is stated in the progression of the revelation. It is very apparent that there is a portion of the book that was for that day. Which must shortly come to pass. Rev.1:1 The time is at hand. Rev. 1:3 The letters to the seven churches were contemporary to that time, while at the same time showing us conditions that prevail even in the church of today. The following statement makes this fact very plain. The things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter.Rev. 1:19 That covers current situations of that day and the future. The bulk of the completion of the prophecy is futuristic, The things of the future were manifest to John. Ever so gradually the prophetic utterances of the book are coming to pass. They will reach a climax when every portion of the book will literally be fulfilled as it has been stated. Today is the day of mercy, tomorrow could be too late.
A THREE FOLD BLESSING prepared for those who become involved. Rev. 1:3.
THE BLESSING OF READING. Strange, but not all Christians want to read the Revelation. Can not understand? Too frightening? Yet there is a blessing to be found in reading this amazing portion of the WORD of God. It is related to the Second Coming of Christ. Rev. 22:7 The keeping of the prophetic utterances found in the book of Revelation will prepare one for His coming. Being ready for that day is certainly a great blessing.
