THE BOOK OF REVELATION

THE FOUR LIVING BEINGS AS JOHN SAW THEM. Rev. 4:8 Each had six wings. Six is the number of man, further indicating to us that these beings are men. 1 Pet. 3:8 Six also is indicative of the six thousand years of the Lords dealings with man or six days. Mt.23:37 Wings are characteristic of protection and security. Rev. 12:14 They also are portrayed as being used for transportation. Their wings collectively numbered twenty-four, the same number as the thrones around and about the throne of God. The elders who occupy the twenty-four thrones are the Apostles of the Lamb. The twelve appointed by Jesus who led the early church. And the twelve who will lead the church in our day into perfection and marriage with the Lord Jesus. Full of eyes. Eph.1:8 Complete understanding and knowledge of the design of the Lord. Absolute wisdom and comprehension is theirs. Heb. 4:13 In all of creation there is no plan, purpose or event of man or animal that is not noted by them and by God. They are all seeing.

VOLUMES OF ENDLESS PRAISE. Rev. 4:8 The recipient of their praise Is the Lord God Almighty. The Supreme One. The Eternal God. The all ruling one who is worthy of all praise and adoration. Eph. 1:3 Paul wrote of the GOD and FATHER of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is fitting for the Son, as a man, to be a part of that foursome that lead the occupants of heaven in worship. It is also proper for the Son to receive praise as He is God manifest in human form. Holy, holy, holy, say it with true meaning and know the power and blessing that this praise creates in us, even now.

WAS, IS AND IS TO COME. Rev.4:8 The three phases of existence pertaining to the Lord Jesus. WAS, He has always been. He is as eternal as the Father. Jn.1:1 He was, is and ever will be the living WORD of God. v.2 He was from before the beginning. Heb. 7:3 He is presented as having neither beginning of days nor end of life. This can only be applied to one person, the Lord Jesus, who is from everlasting to everlasting. Jn.1:3 He was involved in the act of creation, for it was by Him and for Him, the active one that all things were made.

THE LEADERSHIP OF THE FOUR LIVING ONES. Rev. 4:9 That they are in the forefront of the hosts of heaven is obvious. Whenever they give glory, honor and thanks to the occupant of the throne, the twenty-four elders follow in worship. Their praise is directed toward the inhabitant of the throne, they are grateful for having received life from the ever living one. The perfection of unity and harmony is to be found here in the throne of God, so much so, that the scripture speaks of HIM who sat on the throne. Which simply shows us the divine symphony that exists between the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost. It is their throne and in the book of Revelation the Triunity of God is emphasized.
