PSALM FORTY-FIVE

GOD ANOINTED JESUS. The theme of the New Testament is that of the work of the Anointing or the Holy Spirit. The prime example is the anointing of the Spirit in the life of the Lord Jesus. The anointing of the Spirit was and is given, accompanied by the power of the Lord. A force and authority enabling one to work <good works> and conquer the forces of darkness. Acts 10:38 The anointing of the church today, embodies the same capabilities. For Jesus said; that the same works would be accomplished and even to greater works. We may change from generation to generation but the true anointing of the Spirit remains constantly the same. Jn. 14:12

THE OIL OF THE APOTHECARY. This very special anointing oil was prepared to be used exclusively for the anointing of the tabernacle and its furnishings and the High Priest. The oil was an oil of consecration. It was most sacred. It had its own special perfume setting it apart from any other fragrance. Ex. 30: 25-30 There were special restrictions placed on the creation and usage of this oil. It was not to be used to anoint the bodies of men. It was not to be treated as a common unguent. There was not to be made a duplicate or an imitation of this oil composed of the same ingredients. Ex. 30:32 So highly was this sacred oil to be regarded and used that the person disobeying its requirements was to be <cut off> or cut down. It carried a sentence of death. It therefore is a type of the anointing of Holy Spirit. The anointing of the Holy Spirit is a sacred work of the Spirit and should always be most highly regarded. To counterfeit any of the manifestations of the Spirit would place one in jeopardy of the judgments of the Lord. Ex. 30:33 Its ingredients numbered five. Five is the number of the atonement. This extremely holy oil was prepared to anoint for the ministry of the work of redemption in the tabernacle which is a type of the Lord Jesus in His ministry. We find that its ingredients show a symbol of the Godhead. There are three measurements given of the spices that were to be used. The middle {Christ is always the middle one} is the blending of man and God as it is in the Lord Jesus Christ. God was <in> Christ. >FATHER <> The pure myrrh. Five hundred shekels >SON <> The sweet cinnamon. Two hundred fifty. The SON of man The sweet calamus. Two hundred fifty. The SON of God. >HOLY SPIRIT<>The cassia. Five hundred shekels. >OLIVE OIL <> That which blends the whole as one. The unity of the Godhead is found in the fact that, God is a Spirit. Jn. 4:24 It is beautiful that the rulers of this world have chosen the olive branch as a symbol of Peace and Love. The light of the tabernacle was from crushed olives. Ex. 27:20 Jesus, the rejected, maligned, crushed and beaten, the crucified yet the light of the world and the light of life. Jn. 8:12
