MESSIANIC PROPHECIES IN ISAIAH

The bleeding Savior. Isa.53:5 He was wounded for OUR transgressions, our rebellion. He was innocent. We sent Him to the cross. He was wounded, there were five major wounds inflicted on Him. They pierced His hands and His feet. Ps.22:16 The wound in His side from which flowed blood and water. All of which are vital to salvation. He was bruised, crushed or crumbled for our iniquities or perversities and evil. Our peace was purchased by His chastisement, rebuke or discipline. Our healing comes from the beating He received. The custom was to give thirty-nine stripes that the individual might be beaten again and again. Paul experienced this five times. 2 Cor.11:24 Jesus would had have to have received the full complement of forty for He bore all our sickness and all our diseases.

The LORD, the Father, heaped upon Him, the Son, the full complement of the sin of mankind. Isa.53:6 All of mankind’s sin and iniquity He atoned for. He is able to forgive unto the uttermost all who will come to Him. Yet we like sheep have wandered in our own direction. Sometimes foolishly, sometimes deliberately, yes, sometimes even stubbornly. Yet His arms are still reaching out to the whosoever will. Jesus is merciful and He will pardon those who turn to Him. We were once sheep going astray but by His grace we have made an about turn and are now sheep of His pasture. 1 Pet.2:25

He was oppressed. Isa.53:7 The word is translated taskmaster or exactor elsewhere in the Word. Jesus lived His life under pressure. Everywhere he turned there was opposition and hostility. He was afflicted, constantly by His enemies, they tried to turn people and politicians against Him. False accusations were made against Him where ever He went. He was the Lamb of God. The sacrifice of God. As a lamb when sheared makes no noise, regardless of which limb it is pulled by or what ever position it is placed in, so Jesus kept his silence. Mt.26:63 , 27:12-14 He did not respond to the accusations leveled against Him until the governor marveled. The high priests and the scribes, stood and vehemently accused Him. Can you visualize the anger displayed here? In spite of the intensity of those who opposed Him, He did not respond. They could have released Him, and legally they should have. It was the time of the release of a prisoner because of the feast. When Pilate offered to release Him they refused and wanted a rebel and a murder liberated instead. He was mocked, He was ridiculed. Yet He opened not His mouth. He is the Lamb of God. All this because of you and me.
