The New Man is one who shares all that there is to be found in the life of Christ. We are called to be partakers with Him. Heb. 3:14 An association that is to be most intimate and personal. Now, we are privileged to share with Him, His life and His experiences. As He was the Son of God, so is everyone who is born of the Spirit and the Word. John declared that now, at this time, we are the sons of God. The fullness of the revelation of what we will be in the future, in eternity has not been fully made known. But we shall bear His likeness in every aspect of His royal being. 1 Jn. 3:2 What we are and what we will be, are evidences of the great love that the Lord has for those who have committed themselves unto Him. Just think of the marvelous workings of the Spirit of the Lord in our lives transforming us into a spiritual relationship where we are sons of the Most High. 1 Jn. 3:1.
The witness of the Spirit gives powerful confirmation that we are the children of God. We have received of His Spirit and so we may call Him Abba, Father. Rom. 8:15 All of those who are called of the Lord to become a part of His family are adopted into sonship, as were the Israelites. Abraham was not born a son of God, but the Lord found him as a Syrian, ready to perish, when He called Him and gave the promises of a Savior to him. Deut. 26:5 Jesus remains uniquely, the only begotten of the Father. John 1:14 All others are chosen to be sons of God.
Therefore, as children we are heirs, and joint heirs with the one born the Son of God. That raises us to a place of sharing and on a parity with the Lord Jesus. Rom. 8:17a It is by His work of grace and justification which has given us such a prominent place in His plan of salvation. Titus 3:7 All those who have become Christ’s prized possession are of the seed of Abraham and heirs of God, on the authority of the promises given to him. He was a man of faith and not of works, thus he was considered a righteous man. Rom. 4:3 The children of Abraham, the recipients of the promises are those who are of faith. Gal. 3:7 The promises which the Lord gave to Abraham were not activated through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. If those who embraced and practiced the Law were heirs of God, then faith is rendered inactive and incapable of including those of faith in the inheritance. Rom. 4:13-14 The just shall live by faith. None are justified outside of faith.
