The New Man is a citizen of the spiritual commonwealth of Israel. Without Christ no one can be a national of the kingdom of heaven, the everlasting kingdom of the real Israel. All who are outside of Christ are aliens, regardless of their country of birth or lineage. Ye must be born again. The man in Christ is no longer a stranger to the covenants of promise. He is now a participant of the covenant of faith, the promise made to Abraham prior to the giving of the Law. Gen. 17:7-8 His hope of life eternal has been satisfied in the Lord Jesus. He now lives with the knowledge of the Lord Jesus as savior and redeemer. Eph. 2:12 When Jesus was nailed to the tree, among the benefits accomplished for mankind was the work of reconciliation. Prior to being reconciled, all are at enmity with the Lord. He is holy and just and we are just the opposite.
The thoughts and life style of mankind is contrary to that of the Lord. We tend to division and separation, while He would unify. Our unrighteousness keeps us from knowing Him. Therefore there is a need for reconciliation and that has been accomplished through the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Col. 1:21.
Reconciliation is not merely in word but in deed. As with all the work wrought in the spiritual man there is evidence that the desire of the Lord has been achieved. His purpose is to instill the spirit of holiness whereby we are liberated from the sinful actions of this world. We have been called to be without blame, faultless and irreproachable, in His sight, that is according to His idea of holiness. Col. 1:22 Being like Him, manifesting His purity and righteousness is evidence of having been brought into full fellowship with Him.
Further confirmation of one having been reconciled is the actual living and consistency of Christian virtues as found in Christ. On our part, we are to forsake the old life for the new. On His part, He will impart a complete new man, a new nature, a new pattern of life. The new life is built, founded on the Word of the Lord. Col. 1:23 The Lord Jesus being the chief corner stone. Eph. 2:20 When solidly anchored in Christ the New Man will not be moved by test nor trial, by storm or earthquake from His faith in the Lord Jesus. He is established in Christ.
