By the way, what is His name, and what is His Son’s name, if thou canst tell? Prov. 30:4e A fair question and a very necessary one to be able to answer. Moses was ordered of the Lord to go to the children of Israel as their deliverer and proclaim liberty and deliverance from Egypt. Ex. 3:6-14 Moses understood the necessity of being able to say that he was coming to them in the authority and power of a name. When they say to me what is the name of your God, what shall I say to them? In other words Moses did not know His name. It was therefore necessary that the Lord begin the revelation of His glorious name. For Moses and for the captives in Egypt it was, I AM THAT I AM. The Lord presented Himself as the eternal, self existing and ever present, the one who is life everlasting. He is the Lord God Almighty, which was, and is and is to come. Rev. 4:8.
In the days of Enos men began to call upon the name of the LORD. Jehovah or Yehovah. Gen. 4:26 When introducing the Messiah, and His life and works on earth the Father made the statement that He was the LORD and that LORD was His name. Isa. 42:8 Malachi declared the coming of a messenger who would proclaim the coming of the Lord. What stronger or greater message could there be found than that of He who is the Word made flesh. John 1:14 That Word from the beginning was with God, and was God. John 1:1 The messenger was to introduce the Lord who would come, suddenly to His temple. The one who not only is the messenger of the covenant but He is the Covenant. This introduces us to the fact of His coming to present the Covenant and more importantly His coming to complete the Covenant. Mal. 3:1 It is frequently said and is correct, that the Jehovah of the Old Testament is the Jesus of the new.
In the wisdom and revelation of the Father, He saw it proper to bestow the complete name of the Godhead upon His Son, Jesus. Therefore He made this Jesus both Lord and Christ. Acts 2:36 In the equality that exists between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit there is a perfect sharing of all which constitutes the Godhead. Peter carried a message whereby he recognized Jesus Christ to be ( Lord of all). Acts 10:34 According to the Apostle Paul that ‘all’ included the dead as well as the living. Rom. 14:9 The ultimate confession of every tongue is that Jesus Christ is Lord, whereby the Father is glorified. Phil. 2:11 The Spirit of the Lord, the Holy Spirit makes it possible for the desire of the Lord, that is the Godhead, to dwell in the New Man. John 14:23 In order to really know Him, we must know His name. A deep rooted appreciation and respect for His name is only possible when we love Him, with all of our heart. He has equipped the New Man to be filled with the fullness of the presence of the Lord. Eph. 3:19.
