Most assuredly the Lord has the ability to sustain His very own and preserve them from stumbling or committing sin. His ability to help one maintain a consistent Christian walk, is absolute. There is positively no question concerning His capability in carrying out His promises. The weak link in the chain, is our human nature. It is vital that we learn to let Him work in us by His Spirit. The words penned by Jude are plain, positive and very understandable. The purpose of the Lord is to help The Christian live a consistent, sinless and blameless life. To live otherwise is to live under constant self condemnation and insecurity. Jude 24a.
Now to Him that is of power to establish you. Rom. 16:25a The ability to live the life of one who is a Son of God is not found in the human makeup. Were it so, mankind would live differently. They would be really good people and live a life without sin. However the Word tells us that we have been born in sin and shapened in iniquity. Ps. 51:5 All of humanity are gathered together in one category, that is sinners. We may not like it but it is true. Rom. 3:12 He has grouped all into one status that He might manifest His abundant mercy on all. Rom 11:32.
It is the power of the Gospel, the Word of the Lord which enables the Christian to live the kind of a life unto which all have been called. It is the manifestation of the power of the Lord, which produces salvation. Rom.1:16 The Lord would fill every believer with the power of the Holy Spirit. It is through the power of the Spirit that a consistent life for Christ is lived. Rom. 15:13 The magnitude of that power was demonstrated in the resurrection of Christ from the tomb. It is a power that exceeds all other powers and excels over them all. There is no power which is comparable. The beauty of it is seen in that the greatness, the full extent of His power is directed at those who believe on Him and is readily made available to all who follow Him. Eph. 1:19.
The desire of Jude was that the people to whom he was writing maintain a steadfast and consistent spiritual growth until they could be presented to the Lord, faultless, unblemished, and without a spot of any kind. Jude 24 The great, grand, final work of the Lord in His people will be demonstrated in a bride of absolute perfection. No blemish, fault, wrinkle or spot to be found in her. Eph. 5:27 Not only can He do it but He will.
