The Christian has been called to be a partaker of the heavenly calling which is found in the Lord Jesus. Those to whom these words are addressed are called holy brethren. Heb. 3:1 The joy and blessing of the Lord is found in being obedient to that precious high calling, to walk in this world in the life style and manner of holiness which was demonstrated by the Lord Jesus. His call to us is stated in the scripture, Be holy, for I am holy. Lev. 11:45 1 Pet. 1:16 He has not established a standard that is unobtainable. The new man has an intense longing to serve the Lord and to bear His likeness, while yet in this world.
It is His gracious love that has brought us unto a knowledge of our Lord and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. It is His divine purpose that His love be imparted to us. It is to become a part of that new nature and character which we have found in Him. The fullness, the perfection of, His love is made available to those who will obey the Word of the Lord. 1 John 2:5 The Greek word, teleioo, is translated perfected, to complete, i.e. accomplish, consummate (in character). Strong’s. Perfected love, is the very epitome of His love. It is the ability to love as He loves, for His love reaches its pinnacle in those who are His. With that tremendous measure of love resident in the Spirit nature of those who are born of the Spirit, His love reaches the completion, its absolute fullness. Perfected love is trusting, faithful love. It is bold and has absolute faith in the One who has imputed that love into their hearts. It produces absolute confidence and faith. It has no doubts or fears for its trust is in the one who is LOVE. 1 John 4:18.
Unto Him that is able to keep you. The ability of the Lord knows no limits. Above all, it is His desire that each and every individual who comes to trust in Him, be kept by the power of the Lord. 1 Peter 1:5 That is, that they come to a place in the Lord Jesus where their Christian life and walk is consistent. They do not vacillate. They are not spiritual yoyos. His objective is to keep those who are His from falling. The goal which He has established is to ultimately present His very own, in the presence of the heavenly throne, without fault, blemish or sin, into the presence of His glory. Jude 24 Walking in the light of His Word we are washed, sanctified, purified and ultimately brought to the spiritual perfection which has been purchased for us by the Lord Jesus.
