To be effective in the work of the Lord it is necessary that we be filled with the Spirit of the Lord. In what is called the great commission, Go, PREACH the gospel to every creature, there is more activity than just preaching or witnessing. Mark 16:17 There are certain evidences which attribute to the veracity of the message being declared. Those who were called were to cast out devils. To speak with new tongues. They have power over serpents and poisonous drinks. Mark 16:17 They also have the God given ability to lay hands on the sick and see them recover. Mark 16:18 Jesus, as usual, established the example by casting out devils by the Spirit. If His motivation was the Spirit of the Lord, how much more do we need the same Spirit in our lives.
The prophet Micah was a man inspired by the spirit of the Lord. He was filled with the power of the Spirit to declare the Word of the Lord and speak it forth without fear or favor. He faced and spoke to the iniquitous houses of Jacob and Israel. Micah 3:8 Paul experienced a might anointing when facing one filled with demonic powers. That false ministry was halted when the individual was blinded at the command of Paul. Acts 13:9-11.
The presence and leading of the Spirit becomes a witness of His abiding in our lives. To be directed by the Spirit gives great assurance of being a son of the Lord. Rom. 8:14 A life lived according to the commandments of the Lord (Mt. 22:37-40) gives evidence of the Spirit abiding in that individual. That person will dwell in the Lord and the Lord in him.
1 John 3:24 This is the perfect will of the Lord. He has always desired to dwell within those who would be His people. It is the great Divine goal of the Lord which will be fulfilled to the absolute completeness in His church in these last days. As we involve ourselves more and more in the Word of the Lord its message and power begins to manifest a great influence on our lives. We are altered into His likeness and personality. His Spirit will change us into His image and resemblance. His great longing is to have a people who are equal to Himself. Those whom the Spirit of the Lord has directed into that deep and holy life in the Lord Jesus. 2 Cor. 3:18 They grow and advance into the same majestic likeness as the Son of God, the Lord Jesus. There is such a desperate need today for the mighty anointing of the Spirit upon the church and the revelation of the Word. Lord Jesus, increase the hunger of our hearts for you.
