Tuesday, September 16, 2003 (76) MARY. Of all the women of the Scriptures which gave birth to sons who were promised, there is none more famous that Mary, the mother of Jesus. She was a descendent of Judah and David. In the sixth month of the pregnancy of Elisabeth, the Lord sent an angel named Gabriel [Man of God, the Holy Spirit} to Mary [Bitter]. A strange name given one who was to be the Mother of the Lord Jesus. Her experience was to be a joyful one. She was to have a Son, one who was to be most unique, the savior of the world. She was to know the bitterness of the cross as she stood by watching her son die. Mary was a virgin. The salutation of the angel included the fact that she was being highly favored of the Lord. The grace, mercy and love of the Lord prepared her heart for the amazing events that were about to take place in her life. She who was to receive the ultimate of the grace and honor of the Lord. Lk. 1:28 She was to bear and bring forth Immanuel or God with us. Isa. 7:14, Mt. 1:23
THE HOLY GHOST. The Spirit of the living and eternal Lord was to overshadow her. She was to be overwhelmed with the precious presence of the Spirit. Literally lost in the Spirit. Like the cloud on Mount Sinai, she was to know the atmosphere of heaven in the person of the Most Holy. Lk.1:35 She was to receive the seed of the Lord and conceive a son, who was to be named Jesus, or Savior. Lk.1:31 That seed, was the eternal Word, the logos, The Lord Jesus Christ. She believed the Word of Gabriel, therefore that word became alive in her and the prophecy was fulfilled. That Word which is the infallible, living, life giving Word. Not only was that Word with God, but He is equated as being God. In this divine and holy achievement, the Lord became one with man, and became a man. Astonishingly, in His great and majestic love He became like us that we might become like Him. He thoroughly humbled Himself, not only to take on the body and nature of a man, but was willing to commit Himself to the cross in order to rescue us from our sin. Phil. 2:8
HE SHALL BE GREAT. The actions of the Lord yields winners. Christ is more than conqueror. Contrary to general beliefs of His days on earth, He did not come to build an earthly kingdom. His kingdom is Spiritual and is that which is eternal. The six days or six thousand years of time in which the Lord has dealt with man are but a shadow of that which is to come. Gabriel said concerning Him, that He would rule as king on the throne of David. A throne established by the Lord which was a shadow of that which is eternal and is to come. Lk. 1:32His is that, of which there is no end. The Lord blended heaven with earth to receive unto Himself a King and a race who will inhabit His everlasting New Heavens and New Earth with a people who have been born into that eternal kingdom of the Lord. The woman of Revelation twelve gives birth to her first born who is immediately caught up unto the Lord. He so is very special to the Lord. Rev. 12:5.
