THE WOMAN OF REVELATION TWELVE

Thursday, August  07, 2003 (48)INITIAL GIFTS GIVEN TO REBEKAH. They were of gold. Gold signifies that which is purified by the test of fire. Job 23:10 It speaks to us of our faith, that which is far more precious than gold, which must be tried by fire. The value of that faith is revealed at the appearing of our Lord Jesus. 1 Pet. 1:7 We may be well assured that the body of Christ, His church, His bride will be well tested and tried in these last days. Gold was extensively used in the Tabernacle and the Temple. Much of it was shaped and formed by the hammer. As was the mercy seat. Shaped from one piece of gold, beaten until it was made into three, yet united as one. A majestic type of the Godhead and the unity that exists in God, as Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Ex. 25:17-20. The mercy seat representing our mercy seat, the Lord Jesus. Note Heb. 4:16Christ Jesus is the only source of mercy and grace. He is our propitiation (mercy seat). 1 John 2:2 That leaves the cherubim to typify the Father and the Holy Spirit. The metal of greatest monetary and trading value. To give the first gifts of such worth would certainly indicate a person of considerable wealth. The gifts were also, three, the number of the Godhead.

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE. Gold is portrayed as a very positive and useful element and very definitely represents the Lord in all of His glory. There is a negative side which must be considered. There is constant conflict between good and evil and will be until the Lord destroys Lucifer. That with which the Lord had blessed the children of Israel, the gold of Egypt, became a stumbling block and sin to them. The earrings were gathered and made into a golden calf which was to be worshipped. This act of sin was perpetrated, not by an outside, but by the brother of Moses, Aaron, who was second in command and their high priest. Ex. 32:2-4 The Lord upbraided Israel after He had beautified them and decked them with gold. He had made their beauty to be perfect. However they turned and trusted in their own beauty and played the harlot in turning from the Lord. Eze. 16:12-18 The old saying is, that all that glitters is not gold. even in the golden age of the church there will be false gold. It is represented by what the scripture has declared to be, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS. We find her in the book of Revelation. This is the false church of the end of the age. She is a potpourri, a hodgepodge of all the religions and beliefs found in the world. You will be able to believe anything and be a member of good standing in her. Her clothing and adornments are beautiful and attractive to the eye. That is the outward appearance. It is that which appeals to the physical, the mentality of men. Exceedingly seductive. This wicked woman is already in existence in the world and will only increase in power and authority. It is not one single church, please understand that. It is an amalgamation of all. Rev. 17:4-6 Consider that she is guilty of murder, she will martyr millions who believe in Jesus. She is also seen in the book of Isaiah. Isa. 4:1 The one man is the antichrist to whom they will cling.
