THE WOMAN OF REVELATION TWELVE

Wednesday, August  06, 2003 (47)A BINDING PROMISE. So crucial is the choice of a bride for Isaac that a strong and obligatory promise is negotiated. The servant placed his hand on Abraham’s thigh, always the sealing factor of an important vow. To further validity the contract, the name of the LORD is used. It was imperative to the purpose of Abraham that the wife of Isaac not be of the people amongst whom he lived. She must be of his own kind. Gen. 24:2-4 The bride of Christ of His kind. Truly flesh of His flesh and bone of His bone. She is born and led of the same Spirit that was in Jesus. His own kind. His own country. The destiny of the church is to be like him in all aspects. We must come to know Him better and more fully than any other person. Phil. 3:10 The vow made is one of deep commitment and great responsibility. Vows or promises, especially those made to the Lord should never be made in a frivolous or light manner. A vow to the Lord must be fulfilled. Eccl. 5:5

THE WELL, THE VIRGIN AND THE SIGN. The well, so vital to life. The meeting place of the flocks, and shepherds. In the Lord is to be found the fountain of life, both natural and eternal. Ps. 36:9 Because of the witness and testimony that is given of the Lord, the mouth of the righteous is considered to be a well of life. Prov. 10:11 Once again it is the well which becomes the meeting place and the fulfillment of the purpose of the Lord. The well of the Lord is an artesian well, gushing forth the waters of everlasting life. John 4:14 The well becomes a type of the infilling of the Spirit. Rebekah (ensnarer), of considerable beauty and a virgin. Precisely mirroring the Bride of Christ. She is named Zion, and will be the perfection of beauty. Ps. 50:2 The king, the Lord Jesus will greatly revel in her beauty. Ps. 45:11 The Bride is glorious and beautiful, not of herself or from the physical, but because she is covered with the beauty of the LORD. Ps. 90:17 There is nothing more beautiful than that which is beautified by the Lord. His beauty is to be found by entering into His presence and dwelling there. Ps. 96:6 Holiness is the fountain head of everything that is beautiful before the Lord. Ps.96:9 Rebekah was not only a woman of facial beauty, but was beautiful in spirit. She quickly responded and gave of the water which she had drawn to Abraham’s servant. She was also industrious and willing to serve. Without being requested to do so, she watered the camels also. That would have been no small task, drawing water for ten camels. Gen. 24:19-20 All this in exact fulfillment of his request before the Lord. Gen. 24:14 How quickly the Lord responded to his request. The responses of the Lord are many. There are times that before we call he has heard and while we are yet speaking He has heard. Isa. 65:24Then there is the other extreme, such as Daniel experienced where a period of time is required for the response to come. Dan. 10:12-13. If the Lord has not yet answered your prayer. Be patient and persistent as the widow before the unjust judge. Strange that the Lord would place Himself in such a position, where the petioner is to pray the prayed of importunity until the Lord responds. He is the one who taught us to pray in such a manner so it is a legitimate and acceptable form of prayer. Sometimes it is the only prayer that works. Luke 18:2-8.
