THE WOMAN OF REVELATION TWELVE

Tuesday, August  05, 2003 (46)THE FOUNDATION OF A DYNASTY. As we have already noted childlessness is a problem in the building of this household, until the Lord makes manifest His power and ability. The Lord is not limited to natural or human limits. He is the Lord of the supernatural and we see a series of miracles where the barren become fruitful and produce very special offspring. It was time for Abraham to seek a wife for his son Isaac. Gen. 24:1 Isaac is now forty years old, Gen. 25:20 His father is one hundred forty. Gen. 21:5 It is worthwhile to regard the statement of the Word, the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things. Gen. 24:1 That would include every phase of his life, spiritually, materially and in the beginning of a lineage which would bless the world. Are you of faith? Then you too are blessed with the blessings of Abraham. All the blessings of the Lord were not just heaped on Abraham overnight, but over a span of time the Lord made certain His promises. Be patient, the Lord is doing a daily work in His people. There are experiences that must come our way, which may not be pleasant. There are lessons that need to be learned. In the end, He doeth all things well.

UNNAMED, YET DESIGNATED TO SEEK A WIFE FOR ISAAC. That creates just a hint of mystery. A trusted, yet inconspicuous servant delegated a great responsibility. It was a very serious task that he was about to fulfill. This person had been in the service of Abraham for a long time. No doubt felt, and was received as one of the family. He held a position of great trust as the eldest servant. That certainly speaks of one who was a teacher and guide of the younger servants. The hint as to his identify is found in Gen. 15:2 where he is named to be Eliezer, (God of help). He was the only heir at that time, showing the respect and confidence Abraham had in Him. His position, authority, and trust were unquestionable, for he ruled over all that Abraham possessed. He was Abraham’s right hand for sure. Abraham and the servant enter into a covenant concerning the obtaining of a wife for Isaac. We know that Isaac is a type of Christ. Would it not be fitting to see in the servant a type of the Holy Spirit whose responsibility it is to seek out and prepare a people to be the Bride of Christ. The Holy Spirit is our contact at the present time with our coming Bridegroom. It is He who reveals the Word to us. He is the one thorough whom we are born into the family of the Lord. He fills us with the presence of Himself. Quickening us to conditions which are good and blessed, while at the same time showing us practices which are detrimental to our spiritual well being. He makes Christ real. Through the Spirit we experience the tremendous love of the Lord. He blesses us and corrects us. Teaches us right and wrong. He is always calling us out of this world and its environs to a higher order, where, while still on earth we are elevated to the possession of heavenly things. Designated to sit in heavenly places and enjoy the atmosphere of heaven. He is seeking a bride for his Lord and will find her, that is certain.
