THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST IN IASIAH

THE CALAMITY OF HIS COMINGIsa. 34:4 The message of the events that happen here are not confined to Isaiah. The prophet Jeremiah spoke a word to Jerusalem. It began with a cry for repentance and turning unto the Lord. Jer. 4:1-8 The Lord, who is merciful, will always visit in mercy prior to judgment. That is why there will be a might move of the Spirit prior to the
impending judgments. There is a similarity here to the end of the age in as much as their hearts are filled with fear and they lose heart. v.9 The prophet is a bold one. He complains to the Lord for the reversal of their situation, from good to bad. v.10 A word picture given of the impending extreme
judgment against Jerusalem. The words of the prophet are a pronouncement of a sentence against them. This is not to rectify or correct but this is a certain and set edict against them. v.11-12 How
interesting, he comes like clouds, his chariots as whirlwinds, Isaiah 5:28 saw the horses as having hoofs like flint and their chariot wheels like a whirlwind. Our Lord is coming in flaming fire, have you ever noticed the whirlwind in a fire, as the flames spiral upward. His horses are swift. Jesus comes with the speed of light. The people of the Lord are likened to eagles who fly swiftly.
v. 13 Another appeal from the Lord for repentance in Israel and a return to the Lord. v. 14-16 The cause for this affliction that is coming upon them, rebellion. Their ways and doings have procured, or brought about these things on them. They are at fault, they are the reason and not the Lord. They were not innocent in their ways. They deliberately went their own ways. v.17-18.

THE PROPHET IS GREATLY MOVED AT HIS OWN PROPHECYJer.4:19 In agony, in great anguish the prophet is writhing in pain. The burden of that which is coming upon his people has greatly moved him. His heart is pounding in his chest. Terrible, terrible disasters are coming upon his nation. Who wants anyone to be judged, better far, to repent. How fitting, he had heard the sound of the TRUMPET and the cry of battle. The seventh trumpet, the last of the series, is the last trumpet. Under the sound of the last trumpet the seven vials of judgment are poured out upon the
earth. Rev. 16:1-21 Never before, never again will here be such an outpouring and manifestation of the wrath of the Almighty as under the SEVENTH and last TRUMPET. What an indictment against the people of the Lord. The prophet, under the inspiration of the Spirit, called them fools and truly they were. Refusing to hear the call of the Lord to repentance. They are called senseless and silly, perhaps even giddy. There is a striking parallel in the church of today that we need to consider and take to heart. They were without understanding. Again there is a great resemblance here to today’s church. So many are so light and frivolous, perfectly satisfied to feed on the milk of the word. They were wise to do evil without knowledge of that which is good and righteous. Jer. 4.22.
