King David was wise in the ways of the Lord. He knew that the way into the presence of the Lord was to attribute unto Him the glory of which He was exceedingly worthy. It is worth our time and purpose of life to understand and follow the example established by those who preceded us. Exalt the name of the Lord. His name is important to Him and is a name to be continually worshipped. The appeal of David to those who would worship the Lord was to do so in the beauty of holiness. Ps. 29:2
Aaron, the high priest was commanded to put on garments of glory and beauty. Ex. 28:40 They were garments of service depicting the status of his office. They represented the beauty and holiness of the Lord. In New Testament ministry we are honored by the Lord with the right of living a life clothed by the Lord Jesus. Having followed the Lord Jesus in the waters of baptism we have put on Christ. Gal. 3:27 There can be no greater garment of holiness than to be clothed with the Christ of God. Along with that we are entitled to put on the new man. One which is modeled after the life of holiness lived by the Lord Jesus. A totally new creation, in Him. Eph. 4:24 Lest we fail to understand the magnitude of that process of spiritual growth, the Apostle stated that the ultimate of His working in us was to bear His image and likeness. Col. 3:10
Moses, rightly evaluating the beauty of holiness, sought that the beauty of the Lord might rest upon the people of the Lord. Ps. 90:17 It is His will and the longing of His heart that He be able to have the very closest of relationship with those who are purportedly His very own possession. He is not a God afar off but is ever present. Jer. 23:23 He has promised that He would never leave nor forsake us. Our faith, our trust in His promises create an assurance in us that He is always with us. His Word, which is in our mouths and our hearts is true and powerful. That Word, in its entirety, is the promise which He has given us of His continuing presence. Rom. 10:8
Walking in the beauty of holiness there is no condemnation or sense of guilt in our hearts. 1 John 3:21 This is that which gives us boldness to approach unto Him with absolute confidence knowing full well that we will be granted an audience with Him. A clean heart exudes confidence toward the Lord. Faith becomes operational where there is love. I John 4:18 Our love is perfected in Him when we exemplify the holiness of the Almighty. It is not beyond our capability to receive the fullness of His promises. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
