The great magnitude of the promises given the church by Christ Jesus greatly exceed the ability of those who would follow Christ to comprehend. When the church becomes aware of all that He has promised her and she begins to enter in to those things which He has prepared for her, we will see a church which bears His image and fully demonstrates His power and glory. We are called and privileged to become partakers of His divine nature. A partake is one who will fully share the life of Christ which is offered them. 2 Peter 1:4 That glorious power is to be manifest in the believer in a life that emulates the holiness, the power and the life of the Lord Jesus. With the presence of the Holy Spirit there is a revelation of the Lord Jesus, enabling those who love Him to really know Him in all of His majesty and in an intimate manner. 2 Peter 1:3 It is not His intent to be a God who is far off, but He is desirous of making Himself known in the greatness of His being, through His word. The word that is in our mouth and heart. Rom. 10:8.
The law of the Spirit of life found in knowing the Lord Jesus liberates from the law of sin and death. Rom. 8:2 Jesus introduced the Spirit as the quickening dynamic making known the life giving power of the Word of the Lord. John 8:63 The Spirit, because He is the Spirit of holiness, will not abide in a heart that is living contrary to the Word of the Lord. It is His responsibility to lead and guide the church into all that is truth. He is the divine teacher , requested by the Lord Jesus and came proceeding from the Father to direct the church into all that is Godlike and truth. John 15:26.
Among the many promises given to the church there is one which is the culmination, the ultimate work and goal of the manifestation of His holiness in His people. His total purpose is to have a people like Himself. The grand finale of the work of salvation is to be found in those who enter into a complete knowledge of His eternal being. They are recreated, born of the Spirit and the Word until they bear His image. 2 Cor. 3:18 From eternity, the Lord determined that He would find a new race who would bear the likeness and image of His Son. Jesus is the divine model, the first born who would never sin. Through Him a sinless nation was to be brought into existence that He might duplicate Himself in them, in every aspect of His divine nature. Rom. 8:29 As we enter into His promises we see the reflection of His glory and delighting in what we see we are changed into the likeness and glory which is His divine nature. There will be a Bride who is worthy of marriage with such a holy, divine person. She will be the product of the prototype, the Lord Jesus. 2 Cor. 3:18.
