THE CHURCH AT LAODICEA. Laodicea, means, justice of the people. This is not only a permissive church but also a conforming church, with a controlled pulpit. There is not much that the Lord would correct in this church that is not common in the church of today. It is therefore very fitting that we pay particular heed to this message of the Lord directed to His church.
A THREEFOLD REVELATION OF THE BEING OF CHRIST. The AMEN. The one who is steadfast and faithful. Morally, true and certain. To build up or support. To foster as a parent or a nurse. Rev. 3:14 Christ is the verification of all the promises of the Lord. He is the seal, the assurance that they will be fulfilled in our lives. 1 Cor. 1:20 The WITNESS. The record of the plan and purposes of the living God. He likewise is the one who brings to fruition all the promises of the Lord. His witness is steadfast and certain. He is the faithful witness (Greek, martus, martyr). A true witness is a witness unto death and so was Christ. When all else fail, He will not, it is impossible for Him to fail or let us down. He is the beginning of the creation of the Lord. He is the chief architect. His is the power and magistrate. He commenced the creation of God. He has sustained it and He will bring it to its conclusion. He is the head of the church, controlling its movements, its thought patterns and its way of life. He is the resurrection and the life, the first born of a new, eternal, everlasting generation. Col. 1:18 Some of whom will be resurrected while others will be translated into His glorious kingdom.
WORKS WELL KNOWN, BUT A PITIFUL CONDITION PREVAILING. A church that is neither in nor out. Spiritually stagnant. Not of the world but not separated from the world. Identified as not being cold, completely missing the mark or being hot, on fire for the Lord. The desire of the Lord is that one of the two prevail, most satisfactorily the condition of being on fire for the Lord. Instead they were somewhere in between and were termed to be lukewarm or tepid. A condition that to some is intolerable but to others immaterial. However to the Lord the condition was unbearable. Rev. 3:15 The resulting action taken by the Lord was to spew or spit them out of His mouth. Rev. 3:16 That would entail rejection and separation from the Word. The Word of God is the Word of His mouth. While it is crude and your forbearance is requested, the word is; spew, (Greek. emeo, to vomit). It illustrates the disdain of the Lord toward that which is not real. A church that is just playing church. Possessing the necessary equipment but displaying the usage of the same, motivated by the spirit of man and not by the Spirit of the Lord. This is the church of our generation and will be held responsible before the Lord for its lack of real spiritual fire. In His mercy and compassion may the Lord rekindle His fire in each and every heart of His church. The situation is desperate.
