WE WAIT FOR THE KINGDOM. The meanwhile we are exhorted to live according to the precepts of the Word. There is ample warning in the Word that there will be those who are unprepared for His Coming, let alone for His wedding. Titus 2:12 We wait, yes, a good deal more than that we greatly long for that kingdom that is to come. Titus called it the BLESSED HOPE and indeed it is. He is coming in the glory of His Father. Mt. 16:27 He is coming in heavenly clouds with power and great glory. Mt. 24:30 The whole world shall see Jesus coming in Glory. Mk.13:26 It is a GLORIOUS appearing. The bright shining light of heaven, the outraying, the brilliancy of His throne will be seen. It is the appearing of the great God and our Savior, Jesus the Christ. Titus 2:13 What the Lord has spoken is that which shall be accomplished. The glory of the Lord will be revealed and all flesh shall see it, at one and the same time. Isa. 40:5 Indeed every eye, in the grave or yet alive on the earth will see His coming. Some with exceeding great joy. The rest, the ungodly even those who pierced Him will wail and cry at His coming. Rev. 1:7
APPEARANCE EVENTS. The occurrences that take place at His appearing seal to us the proper placement of His Second Coming at the close of the tribulation period. The living and the dead will be judged at the time of His appearing. 2 Tim. 4:1 When Jesus is revealed (apokalupsis, revelation) from heaven, in flaming fire taking vengeance on the ungodly. Who will be punished and closed off from the presence of the Lord. At the same time, Jesus will be glorified in His saints. 2 Thes. 1:7-10 Certainly no chance for the sinner to live through this and wander into the Kingdom.Great benefits and rewards, praise, glory and honor, await the tested and tried at the appearing of our Lord. 1 Pet. 1:7 Maintain the purity of a Christ like life, be without spot or reproach until His appearing. 1 Tim. 6:13-14 A crown prepared for those who long for and love His appearing. It is a crown of righteousness, His righteousness. We will receive not only a resurrected and glorified body, but we will be totally in His likeness and eternally bear His image. 2 Tim. 4:8
THE HEIR TO THE THRONE OF THE KINGDOM. Call His name Jesus.Lk. 1:31 The promise of an everlasting throne was given to King David. It was given to benefit the saints of the Lord. They were to receive a permanent abiding place. The children of wickedness were to plague them no more. The Lord promised that it would be a time of rest. Rest is a key word for the millennium. It is the day or age of rest. A permanent house, or family to be acquired. It will be an established kingdom. Some of these things were fulfilled in Solomon but they are finalized in Christ. 2 Sam. 7:10-13 He shall be great, truly the greatest of all who have ever lived in this world. He is to be called the Son of the Highest, the Supreme God. He will occupy the throne of David. Lk. 1:32 The throne does not belong to a natural kingdom but to that supernatural and eternal throne of the Lord. He will rule over the house of Jacob eternally (Jacob a type of the Spirit, thus the Spirit filled). There is to be no conclusion to His reign.Lk.1:33
