The first, was caused by a strong earthquake, a mighty lifting up of the bottom of the ocean, creating a huge tsunami. Thus, causing a surge of the waters of the sea, which, when it reached land caused havoc. Now once again we have been introduced to the power of the waters and the waves of the sea. To be sure, the cause was different, but the effect was the same. Hurricane Katrina generated a surge, a wall of water some twenty-five feet high. Which, when it hit the shoreline with great power it smashed its way through every obstacle confronting it. Many of the nations of the world in this past year have had great floods which have taken lives and destroyed property. All this creating great distress of nations. With it comes perplexity and anxiety in trying to cope with such tremendous forces of nature.
There is another consequence of these flooding disasters which is also found in the Word. The very first response, nation and world wide is the surge in the price of all oil products. Likewise, the destruction of vital crops will have its effect. The dependency of the whole world on oil will reach deep into the economy of every nation. Another sign that is to be seen in the end of the age is the increase in the cost of food. ” A measure of wheat for a penny.” Rev. 6:6 In that day, a penny was the general days wage of a laborer. The cost of living will most certainly be increased as the cost of fruits, vegetables and all food will follow the price of gasoline.
“SEE THOU HURT NOT THE OIL AND THE WINE.” Rev. 6:6c The reference here is not to the natural commodities of olive oil and wine. These too, will increase in price. Spiritually, the olive oil is the anointing of the Holy spirit and the wine is the joy of the Spirit. As the Lord fed Israel for forty years so He will meet the need of all who place their trust in Him. “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19 He will do it!:END:
