KEEPING BOOKS? Surely the Lord has more important things to attend to than the keeping of books on every person and their every deed. Even the angels would be taxed to keep up with the multitude of actions that are committed everyday. There is of course, the book of life which is in the possession of the Lord. In it are recorded the names of all who would ever come to Christ. For their names have been recorded in the Lambs book of life from “the foundation of the world.” Rev. 17:8 The Lord in His foreknowledge knew the ultimate fate of every man. Therefore He was able to record their names away back there knowing exactly the end results of their lives. From the prophet Malachi we understand that the Lord kept a book of remembrance when His people talked about their reverence for Him. Mal. 3:16
THE BOOK OF LIFE AND OTHER BOOKS. There is a great difference between the book of Life and what is simply termed books. The book of life is a record of those who love the Lord. The books are just records that have been kept. The mind is a recording machine. Some have better success In maintain things taught and heard. Others of us find, that too quickly thoughts and memories, that we would like to retain, just slip away. The day of the opening of the books is soon to take place. A time when every man will stand before the Lord and give an account of the deeds done in the flesh. Notice that it is the dead who are judged. Rev. 2O:12 For those who are Christ’s are living. They will not be judged for their names are in the Lambs book of life. We sometimes forget that Christ: took our judgment and that judgment begins in the house of the Lord. The judgment of the Christian is a thing of the past. 1 Pet. 4:17
THE BOOKS. A few years back there was an experiment shown on Public TV. The brain of a person was exposed. Electrodes were touched ever so delicately on different areas of the brain. As this was done the person had instant recall of the events of their life. Another person while kneeling in a prayer of repentance saw the sinful events of their
lives flash before them. As each of these past acts were revealed they confessed and received forgiveness. The greatest storehouse of every one of us is very personal, and lies within our memories Which are stored in a recorder [the brain] made by the Lord. There is no other need of actions and deeds being recorded anywhere else when we have such an effective capability of storing them. Everyone carries with them a complete memory of their past until the Lord washes it away. The books [the memory] containing past events will be opened. Rev. 20:12
