THAT WHICH IS ETERNAL. THE GODHEAD. ROM. 1:20. The fact that the Godhead is eternal is found in each its members. That which is not seen or is invisible, is clearly seen by that which is made visible. Paul went so far as to say, they are clearly seen. Then again they are understood by the things which were created.
SEEING THE UNSEEN. The Father is the unseen one, the invisible. Hidden from the eyes of all men except the Lord Jesus who came forth from His Father. His purpose was to make the Father known to the whosoever, by declaring the mighty works of the Father. John 1:18 Jesus indicated to Philip that having been with Him for such a long time, he should have seen the Father in the Son. John 14:9 The Lord Jesus said that He was in the Father and the Father was in Him. The omnipresent Father dwelt within the spirit nature of His Son, and Jesus attributed the works that He did to the Father. Jesus, in His prayer, prayed that once again He might be covered, fully inundated with the eternal and great glory of His Father, which had been His before His birth into this world. It was a glory that was greatly to be desired. As the Word, the Logos Jesus had been enveloped and filled with the eternal glory of His Father. John 17:5 we are assured of the existence of the Father through the words of the Lord Jesus. Who said that the only one who had seen the Father was He who was of God. In other words Jesus had not only seen the Father but had fellowship with Him and verified His existence. John 6:46 Jesus is the perfect likeness and image of the Father. He is everything that the Father is, revealed in human form. He reveals the invisible Father and makes Him known. Col. 1:15
THROUGH THE ETERNAL SPIRIT. The Holy Spirit possesses the same aptitude and character as the Father and the Son. He too, is invisible and was evident in the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus. It was the Holy Spirit who motivated and led Jesus to the offering of Himself as the only sacrifice for the souls of men. He also is as eternal as the Father and the Son and has been eternally a part of the whole plan of salvation. Beginning with the creation of the earth to the creation of the new man in us. His work is vital. He it is who will lead the church to perfection even as He led Christ to the cross.Heb. 9:14.
