God Is

GOD IS, FATHER. Very definitely, He is Triune in character. The scriptures show each personality is acknowledged to be God. Jesus quoted the people of His day and presented a truth. That is, His Father was the one whom they acknowledged as God. Jesus also honored Him as His Father. We have here a dual witness of God as the Father. John 8:54 The Father gave honor and recognition to His Son. How greatly Jesus is exalted is seen in the translation of the Amplified Bible of John 8:54 “My Father, extols me, magnifies and praises me.” There can be no question of the tremendous respect and honor the Father bestows on His Son. He was the beloved of His Father and pleased Him in all things. Mt. 3:17.

GOD IS, SON. Of the eternal being and character of the Son there is more than sufficient witness in prophetic utterance and the manifestation of His death, burial and resurrection, that He is God. As the Logos, the WORD, Jesus was before the beginning of all that is called time and creation. He is co-equal with His Father in all that is timeless and everlasting. His companionship, His most intimate fellowship was with the Father. He is called “the man that is my fellow.” Zech. 13:7 Not only was He with God but He is confessed, by the scriptures, as being God, for that “WORD was God.” John 1:1 In creation, the WORD was actively and entirely involved. All things were created by Him, nothing was excluded from His craftsmanship. Only God can create, so we have another witness of His Divine Being. John 1:3.

GOD IS, SPIRIT. How plainly the scriptures depict who and what our God is. He is SPIRIT. That involves the natural and spiritual life of man. All life is possible only because the Lord supplies natural life to all creatures through His Spirit. Paul said, “in Him we live and move and have out being.” Acts 17:28 Man became a living creature when the Lord breathed into him the “breath of life.” Gen. 2:7 The Spirit was not only involved in causing man to live but we see His activity in the creation of the world. The Spirit of God moved. Gen. 1:2 In lying to the Apostles, Ananias lied to the Holy Spirit. Acts 5:3 However, in doing so, Peter said that he had lied to God. Acts 5:4 Therefore we know at the person of the Holy Spirit is also God. Spiritual things are the real part of life for they are everlasting. What a great privilege we have of receiving of His Spirit which He so abundantly pours forth into our lives.
