DIETY AS REVEALED TO ISRAEL. The Lord placed trust and confidence in Israel, therefore He became their Savior. He thoroughly considered them to be His children, His people. Though He knew them exceedingly well, granted them an opportunity to walk in truth before Him. Isa. 63:8 The heart, the emotions of the Lord are amply expressed in the words stating that, “In all their affliction He was afflicted.” He experienced the full measure of a Father in His compassion and love for them. There was not a negative experience that came upon them but what He felt it in the deepest sense. He is still that kind of a God. There is not a trial or a difficulty that we go through but what His empathy comes into play and He feels with us. No doubt more deeply that we do for His emotions are perfect and befitting to the Lord for they spring from perfect love. His great love. The Lord was a Father to them.
NOTE. He was “grieved for the misery of Israel.” Mightily moved by their afflictions, even as He is today. Judg. 10:15 In His love and pity “He redeemed them.” Rescued them. Brought them out of bondage and slavery. “He bare them.” Gave them a lift and a hand throughout their wilderness journey. They did not lack a thing in the desert. Having the nature of men, there were things which they greatly desired, such as the leeks and onions, but every necessity was met. They literally had the food of angels, and living waters of the freshest and the best quality. Truly, He lifted them up and carried them. Isa. 63:9 They ate the manna representative of the Word, the flesh of the Lord Jesus. They drank of the waters of heaven, the Spirit of the Lord.
THE ANGEL OF HIS PRESENCE. Or better yet, the Messenger of His presence, one who stands with Him and before Him. This is more than a created angel. Isa. 63:9 He is called the angel of the LORD, or Jehovah, when He called Abraham. Which is actually the presence of the LORD. Jacob, in blessing the sons of Joseph prayed that “The Angel who redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads.” No created angel has the authority nor the power to redeem any one, let alone themselves. Not only can a created angel not redeem, they themselves are unredeemable. When they fell, they were bound eternally in their fallen state. Jude 6 Only Deity can redeem, and then only by pure innocent blood. The blood of the Lamb. There is only one way, one path, one door, one Redeemer. His name is Jesus, Savior. Heb. 12:24
