ABRAHAM PROMISED THE IMPOSSIBLE. The promised son, Isaac was to be conceived and born to Abraham and Sarah. “The LORD said,” NIV. I will return and Sarah shall have a son. Gen. 18:10 The LORD, Jehovah, said, “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” At the appointed time, I will return and Sarah shall have a son. V.13 Though Abraham was visited by three men, they are so unified as to use the personal pronoun I. Thus we have a beautiful type of the Godhead. Three yet one.
SODOM AND GOMORRAH. The LORD said, “Shall I hide From Abraham that which I am about to do?” The purposes of the LORD, the future made known to the man of God, Abraham. Gen. 18:15 The LORD said, I will go, I will see, I will know. The men went down to the city. Abraham, unsuccessfully, interceded for the city before the LORD. There were not even ten righteous persons in the city. Gen. 8:22-32 A pathetic prophetic picture of the last days. Two angels, a very ambiguous term. It can mean anything from a created heavenly being to a man commissioned by the LORD to fulfill an act of God, like preaching the gospel. In this case it is the two who have a personal ministry to the peoples of the earth. The Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Their experiences in Sodom were unsavory. It was revealed to Lot that they had come to destroy the cities of the plain, because of their great wickedness. The Son to be the final judge. John 5:22 There is a day “appointed” For the world to be judged and compared to the righteous man, the Lord Jesus. Acts 17:31 Sinning against the Spirit cannot be forgiven, here or in the world to come. He is kind, tender and loving. However, when blasphemed, will not extend pardon. Mt. 12:31-32 They had come to Sodom not only to condemn the city but to also deliver Lot and his family. We see here a principle by which the Lord works. That is, before judgment He will visit in mercy and deliverance. Prior to the last day judgments as recorded in the book of Revelation, the Lord will visit this earth with a mighty revival and a season of reaping. We are entering to harvest season, even now. The Lord will accomplish great things in these last days. We will see the power of the Lord manifest as no other generation of people have seen. His goal is to form a perfect Bride for His Son. A people who are identical to Himself in all aspects of their being. Spirit, soul and body. They will bear His likeness and holiness. We wait with great anticipation for that blessed day. Eph. 5:26-27.
