EMPHATICALLY. The LORD, Jehovah, He is God and there can be none other god or deity. Deut. 4:35 Paul gave witness to the same fact by saying, “there is none other God but one.”1 Cor. 8:4 Thus, in the mouth of two witnesses, the Old and the New Testaments the truth is verified. The LORD proclaimed, rightfully, that He was the King of Israel. Furthermore that He was the Redeemer of Israel. Proclaiming Himself to be the first and the last. The only true God. Isa. 44:6 To illustrate the unity of the Godhead, these words, the first and the last are used y the Lord Jesus in the book of Revelation in reference to Himself. We know it is Jesus who is speaking for only He can say, “the first and the last, which was dead and is alive.” Rev. 2:8 Not only is He alive, but He is alive forevermore. Rev. 1:18 He is Alpha and Omega. That Word which was in eternity and is eternal. Whether it be the written Word or the spoken Word it is composed of the letters of the alphabet and represent Christ, who is all in all. The “beginning and the end” Relate to this world and life on this world. Only earth and men have a beginning and a conclusion. Jesus became one with us that we might be delivered from the ultimate, i. e. death. He makes us to be eternal. The first, none precede Him. All others named to be gods, by men, will one day no longer exist. When the others have been exterminated, the Lord alone will remain. As He always has been, the one and only true God. Rev. 22:13
“BUT THE LORD.” In Him and only in the Lord is to be found the true God. That may seem biased or narrow to some but if we are to follow the Word then it is truth. He is the living and life giving God. The eternal King. None may be likened unto Him. Jer. 10:10 He is the Rock, the stronghold, a fort in time of need. n the original creation and in that which pertains to things eternal, His work is in perfection. There are no flaws or errors in His works. He is justice personified. Coming to Him we may always anticipate a righteous response. Wrong doing is not in His nature or being. He is upright in all of His dealings with man kind. We can expect a proper and right response from Him. Deut. 32:4 David knew Him as the God of truth. He is the very essence of truth. It is not only who He is but it is totally what He is. Ps. 31:6 That is why, when the Word became flesh it was an evidence which was saturated with grace and truth. The glory of the Lord was seen in His Christ, in a spiritual sense and in the wondrous works that He wrought. John 1:14.
